Pup play and erotic hypnosis
Pup play and hypnosis go together naturally. Both are about quieting the everyday mind and sinking into a different headspace. Here is how guys combine them, what to agree first, and how to find a handler, a hypnotist or a fellow pup.
What is pup play?
Pup play is role-play in which a guy takes on the headspace of a playful dog, the pup. Often another guy takes the role of handler: the one who trains him, rewards him and looks after him. No animals are involved: it is people, play and imagination.
For many pups it is a headspace more than a sex act: a break from the logical, worried mind into something simpler, reactive and playful. For some it gets sexual, for others it never does, and both are real pup play. Every pup's dog is different, too: a loyal shepherd, a bouncy retriever, a stubborn pup who needs training. Hoods, collars, mitts and kneepads are common, and a hood can give a guy permission to let go, but none of it is required.
Why hypnosis and pup play fit together
Pups talk about pup space: the moment the human mind goes quiet and the pup takes over. That is very close to what a subject feels in trance, and hypnosis can be a way in.
- Deeper headspace: an induction helps a pup drop into pup space faster and stay there longer, with or without gear.
- Triggers: a word, a click, a whistle or the collar going on becomes the cue to shift into pup mode, and a second cue brings him back.
- Training: suggestion makes commands like sit, stay and heel land with real feeling, and lets new tricks stick.
- Losing words: some pups enjoy suggestions that make speaking feel hard, so they bark, whine and nuzzle instead.
- Praise: with the right suggestions, hearing "good boy" can become a deep source of pleasure and pride.
Many hypnotists find the handler role a natural fit. Both guide, reward and take responsibility for the other guy's wellbeing.
Handlers, hypnotists and pups
The handler and the hypnotist can be the same guy or two different guys. A pup does not always need a handler at all: some packs are all pups, playing together. And the pup is not always the submissive one: pups can be tops, and plenty of guys switch, pup one night and handler the next. Some pups use recorded trance files on their own before a session or a pup meet. Read more in Hypnotists, subjects and switches.
Agree it first
Talk before you play: what each of you wants, what kind of pup he is, and what is off limits. The usual rules for a session apply, plus a few that matter more in pup play:
- The stop signal survives everything. Any suggestion that makes speaking hard must leave the safeword untouched. Agree a non-verbal stop signal too, such as tapping out twice, because a pup in mitts or a hood may not be able to say it.
- Triggers: which ones, who may use them, and where. Keep pup triggers for private sessions and remove temporary ones afterwards. Never leave a trigger that could fire in public.
- How deep: how far the pup headspace goes, and what he stays aware of.
- Gear and physical limits, and where the scene takes place.
Our consent and safety guide covers the rest.
Look after the body too
Pups spend a lot of time on hands and knees. Use kneepads or a soft floor, take breaks and keep water close. A guy in trance may notice discomfort less than usual, so the handler watches for it and checks in. Hoods get hot: make sure he can breathe easily and take it off at the first sign of trouble.
Coming back
End with a clear cue that brings him back to his human self, then wake him fully. Remove any triggers meant only for that session and talk about how it went. After a deep scene some pups feel a dip in mood later on. Aftercare helps, and it looks different for everyone: sometimes a cuddle, sometimes space, sometimes snacks, and a message the next day. Handlers and hypnotists need aftercare too.
Many guys find pup play and trance calming, even healing. That is great, but neither is a replacement for therapy.
Finding pups and handlers here
Mention pup play on your profile so the right guys can find you. Search members by interests and location, see who is online, read and write pup and hypnosis stories, and join or start a group for pups and handlers near you or online. Many cities also have a local pups and handlers group (often called a PAH) and munches, which are relaxed social meetups. The first time you meet someone new, bring a friend.
